Halloween Edition

Print is AliveIt’s aliiiiivee…! Print, that is. And we’ve been busy designing for it all month long.

We always seem to have a balanced queue of both digital and print projects at Imbue — whether it’s copy, design, consulting, or something else, we create work fit for all mediums.

Lately, we’ve had our hands in more print-related projects than usual. (So, if you thought print was dead, you’re wrong!)

Here are a few pieces we’ve recently completed:

  • Designed and did layout for a series of political ads and collateral pieces (direct mailpieces, yard signs, newspaper ad)
  • Produced a number of scientific figure recreations for scientific research posters
  • Designed a template and layout with multiple image spreads for a client’s annual monthly planner
  • Designed multiple pop-up/retractable banners with company core branding and messaging
  • Provided concept and copywriting for a start-up company’s brochure and marketing collateral

Designing and writing for print is very different from when we create work for web. For both mediums, we have to consider the user experience (context in which it will be seen, how the user will engage with the piece), scale (size and way in which the piece is displayed/held), and technical details (resolution, fonts). It’s always a challenge and we love the opportunity to create both for our clients.

In other news: while not everyone will be dressing up this year for Halloween, we will all be indulging in our favorite Halloween candy. Here are our top trick or treating candies and most memorable costumes from years past:

Michael P.

Candy:  Starburst

Costume: The Church Lady from SNL (well, isn’t that special…?)

Wendy

Candy:  Candy Corn (must be good quality) and Butterfinger

Costume: Jack-o-Lantern (homemade out of fabric and stuffed with crumpled newspaper for plumpness)

Laura

Candy:  Smarties

Costume: Shower Girl (seemingly dressed in only a towel, Laura promises she had clothes on underneath)

Michael O.

Candy:  Starburst

Costume: Old Timey Baseball Player (complete with perfectly manicured moustache)

Jane

Candy:  Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Costume: Bride of Frankenstein (out of convenience due to the nature of her frizzy black hair)

Whitney

Candy:  Butterfinger

Costume: Rock Star (lesson learned on glamour: red lipstick isn’t for everyone)
